Lessons Learned: What I Did Right & What I Wish I Did Differently

If you've been in business for any length of time, you've probably had moments where you thought, "If only someone had told me that sooner."

As I reflected on my journey from solopreneur to CEO, I realized there are a few things I did really well that helped me build the business I have today, and there are also things I would absolutely do differently if I were starting over.

While every experience taught me something valuable, I hope sharing these lessons helps you move forward with more clarity and confidence on your own entrepreneurial journey.

What I Did Right

The biggest thing I did right was staying committed to the vision, even when I didn't have all the answers.

There were many times when my business evolved. My offers changed. My audience changed. Even my understanding of the mission changed as I grew. But underneath all of those shifts was a deep knowing that I was meant to build something that helped people and made a meaningful impact.

I didn't always have perfect clarity, but I kept moving forward.

I invested in learning. I developed new skills. I sought support when I needed it. And most importantly, I remained committed to becoming the person capable of leading the vision I felt called to create.

What I Wish I Had Done Differently

When I think about what I would change, it comes down to three resources: time, energy, and money.

Early in my entrepreneurial journey, I spent a lot of all three trying things that weren't aligned with the business I was actually meant to build. I joined programs that weren't the right fit. I followed strategies that worked for someone else. I spent time forcing approaches that created resistance instead of momentum.

The lesson wasn't that those experiences were wrong. The lesson was that alignment matters.

The clearer you are about your vision, your strengths, and the business you're truly building, the easier it becomes to make decisions that support long-term success.

The Lesson I Hope You Take Away

You do not need to have everything figured out before you begin.

You simply need to stay committed to the mission, continue learning, and be willing to adjust your path as you gain clarity.

Building a purposeful and profitable business isn't about getting every decision right. It's about becoming the leader who can navigate the journey with intention.

Every lesson, every pivot, and every challenge has the potential to bring you closer to the business, and the version of yourself, you are here to create.
